Our client is a major renewable energy firm that oversees large-scale energy production sites globally. The O&M Director leads operations, maintenance, and site management activities for a high-profile wind farm, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and project objectives. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):
- Oversee operations and maintenance activities at a large wind farm site, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise site managers, technicians, and contractors, providing guidance and maintaining high operational standards.
- Lead site recovery and upgrade initiatives to align with corporate expectations, focusing on operational efficiency and asset improvement.
- Ensure preventive maintenance is conducted effectively to maintain equipment availability and reduce downtime.
- Develop and manage site budgets, analyze costs, and identify opportunities for cost reductions.
- Act as a liaison between the site and corporate headquarters, providing regular updates and acting as the "eyes and ears" of corporate leadership onsite.
- Foster strong relationships with third-party service providers and landowners, ensuring smooth operations and contractual compliance.
- Drive safety and environmental compliance across all personnel and activities at the site, implementing safety protocols and training as needed.
- Facilitate reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) and compliance requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide training and mentorship to the onsite team, identifying professional development opportunities to support team growth.
Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience; an advanced degree or P.E. certification is a plus.
- 10 – 15 years of operations and maintenance experience in energy facilities; experience in renewable energy or similar sectors preferred.
- Proven track record of managing large teams and multiple site operations effectively.
- Strong background in negotiating third-party contracts and managing vendor relationships.
- Commitment to safe operations, with a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and safety protocols.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and critical thinking, with the ability to implement effective solutions quickly.
- Proficient communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with executives, stakeholders, and team members.
- Experience with budget management, cost control, and contract implementation.
- Willingness to work in an outdoor environment and climb ladders as required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Familiarity with J.D. Edwards and Maximo systems is beneficial.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create Excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
